New Delhi, Feb 27 – Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma has directed officials to clean sewers and footpaths, fast-track the construction of five flyovers, and enhance the aesthetics of pavements beneath them within a fixed timeline.

During an inspection of the Barapullah flyover construction site, Verma instructed officials to commence work in April and ensure its completion within four months. He emphasized that within just a week of the BJP forming the government in Delhi, more than ten meetings had been held to assess pending projects and push for their immediate resumption.

"I have directed PWD and flood management officials to draft a comprehensive plan for sewer and footpath cleaning, expedite stalled flyover projects, and beautify pavements under flyovers," Verma stated.

While reviewing a damaged culvert that has been in disrepair for two years—leading to road closures and traffic congestion—Verma ordered officials to accelerate the tender process. He assured residents that repair work would begin by April, noting that the Barapullah corridor is vital for commuters.

Criticizing the previous administration, Verma claimed that due to negligence, the cost of the Barapullah project had doubled from its original estimate. He further alleged that in the past decade, no Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government minister had visited the site to monitor progress.

Addressing concerns over security surveillance, Verma accused the former AAP government of selectively installing Chinese CCTV cameras across the city while neglecting constituencies represented by BJP MLAs. In the Assembly session, he announced an investigation into the non-installation of CCTV cameras in eight BJP-held constituencies. He assured that installation in these areas would now be prioritized.

The minister also criticized the AAP government’s "stepmotherly" treatment towards BJP MLAs regarding CCTV deployment, vowing to correct the oversight under the new administration.
