Orlando, Florida, May 18
Global data analytics and artificial intelligence leader Qlik is gearing up to cross the 1,000-customer mark in India this year, driven by a sharp surge in demand and expanding investments in the region.

Qlik India Managing Director Varun Babbar revealed the company has already doubled its business in the past two years and currently serves over 800 clients, including prominent names such as Indian Oil, Ather Energy, NSE, and HDFC Life.

“We should be able to do it soon... it should happen this year, but it's difficult to say exactly when,” Babbar said, referring to the 1,000-customer milestone. He emphasized the growing contribution of small and midsize enterprises, which are becoming key partners in both data analytics and AI strategy.

India Among Top Three in Qlik’s Global Workforce

From a talent perspective, India holds significant weight in Qlik’s global operations. It is now the third-largest employer in the Qlik ecosystem, trailing only the US and Sweden.

Recognizing India’s strategic importance, the company has been ramping up its investments. A new data centre was recently launched in Mumbai, aimed at strengthening Qlik’s global cloud footprint. The facility is designed to meet local data storage demands, comply with regulatory norms, and offer advanced AI capabilities.

Focus on Vertical Advisory and Expansion

Qlik is also intensifying its investment in advisory services, providing industry-specific guidance to help clients optimize their data environments and strategies for improved efficiency.

Maurizio Garavello, Qlik's Senior Vice President for the Asia Pacific region, stated that the company’s headcount in India has doubled over the past 16 months, with continued hiring on the horizon as the business expands. “Go big is the direction that top management has given as far as the Indian market is concerned,” he said.

Innovation at the Core: Agentic Experience and Open Lakehouse

Earlier this month, Qlik introduced a groundbreaking agentic experience, a single conversational interface powered by AI agents that simplify complex data workflows. This innovation aims to accelerate decision-making and enhance productivity across enterprises.

Additionally, Qlik launched Open Lakehouse, a fully managed Apache Iceberg solution integrated into the Qlik Talend Cloud. This feature further strengthens Qlik’s position in offering cutting-edge, scalable data management solutions.

At the core of these innovations lies the Qlik engine, a proprietary technology that indexes data relationships, enabling users to uncover unexpected insights and drive more informed decisions.

With a strong focus on India and an aggressive growth strategy, Qlik is positioning itself as a frontrunner in the country’s rapidly evolving data analytics and AI landscape.
