New Delhi, February 11 The Indian Air Force is looking forward to incorporating "many more" of the newer-generation aircraft into its fleet, said Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, the Vice Chief of the Air Staff, on Wednesday.

Kapoor was addressing a press conference ahead of Exercise Vayu Shakti. Regarding the Rafale, he said, "The Rafale was definitely a key asset during Operation Sindoor, along with other aircraft. Yes, the Rafale is the focus; it is definitely a key asset."

The VCAS added, "The Indian Air Force is looking forward to incorporating many more MRFA aircraft, whether those will be Rafale or any other aircraft, is currently under consideration. And, a final decision on this has not yet been taken."

MRFA stands for multi-role fighter aircraft.

"The Indian Air Force is looking forward to incorporating many more of the newer-generation aircraft into its fleet, and the sooner, the better," Kapoor said.

The Rafale, Su-30, MiG-29, Tejas, and Jaguar, among other fighter aircraft, will be part of the upcoming Exercise Vayu Shakti, which will also highlight the "successful role" of the Indian Air Force during Operation Sindoor, another senior officer said at the same event.
