New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) – Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, daring him to drink the “stinking water” supplied to the people of the national capital. Speaking at a public rally at Hauz Qazi Chowk in Old Delhi, Gandhi accused Kejriwal of making misleading promises, comparing him to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing the gathering in support of Congress' Ballimaran candidate Haroon Yusuf, Gandhi reiterated his party’s commitment to standing with those affected by violence, particularly during the 2020 Delhi riots. He emphasized that the Congress has always been on the side of the oppressed and will continue to fight for their rights.

Drawing a stark contrast between political ideologies, Gandhi said, “The people of India have a choice – on one side, there is the BJP-RSS, spreading hatred and violence, and on the other, there is the Congress, spreading love and brotherhood.”

The Congress leader took a direct swipe at Kejriwal, recalling his early promises of a corruption-free administration, clean water for Delhi, and a rejuvenated Yamuna. Holding up a bottle of water from Delhi's supply, Gandhi challenged the AAP supremo, saying, “Kejriwal claimed he would clean the Yamuna. Let him drink a glass of this water and we will see him in the hospital.” Taking a whiff from the bottle, he remarked that it had a foul smell, reinforcing his criticism of AAP’s governance.

Gandhi also accused Kejriwal of failing to uplift marginalized communities, stating that despite his claims of championing the poor, his team lacked representation from backward classes, Dalits, and minorities, including Muslims and Sikhs.

As Delhi gears up for elections, the Congress leader’s remarks signal an intensifying political battle, with the party seeking to regain ground in the national capital.
