Chandigarh, February 28: Parts of Punjab and Haryana witnessed rainfall over the past 24 hours, leading to a noticeable decline in temperatures across both states, according to the Meteorological Department on Friday.
Chandigarh, the shared capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded 10.9 mm of rainfall within the same period, causing the mercury to dip significantly.
Rainfall Details Across Punjab
Amritsar received considerable rainfall, measuring 17.5 mm. Other areas affected in Punjab include:- Gurdaspur: 20.7 mm (highest in Punjab)
- Hoshiarpur: 20.5 mm
- Ferozepur: 10.5 mm
- Patiala: 7.2 mm
- Faridkot: 6.1 mm
- Ludhiana: 5.8 mm
- Mohali: 3 mm
- Bathinda: 1 mm
Rainfall Recorded in Haryana
Haryana also experienced showers, although comparatively lighter:- Ambala: 6.2 mm (highest in Haryana)
- Karnal: 4 mm
- Hisar: 2.8 mm
- Rohtak: 0.6 mm
Drop in Temperatures
Due to these showers, the minimum temperatures across both states, including Chandigarh, saw a decline of up to three degrees compared to Thursday, providing residents with cooler weather conditions.The Meteorological Department continues to monitor the situation and anticipates further fluctuations in temperatures as the weather remains unsettled.
