Leaders Remember Former Vice President’s Contributions to Nation-Building
Jaipur, May 15 – Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Thursday paid floral tributes to former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat at his Smriti Sthal in Jaipur, marking his death anniversary with solemn remembrance and gratitude.Addressing the gathering, Sharma highlighted Shekhawat’s pivotal role in shaping Rajasthan’s and India’s development trajectory. He said the late leader's vision was deeply rooted in the philosophies of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, reflecting his inclusive and reformist approach to governance.
Sharma praised Shekhawat for introducing the 'Antyodaya' scheme in Rajasthan, which aimed to uplift the poor, farmers, and backward communities. He noted that this scheme’s success led to its nationwide adoption, underlining Shekhawat’s enduring legacy in pro-poor policymaking.
"Shekhawat ji's life remains a guiding light for all. On his death anniversary, we should pledge to work towards building a strong and prosperous Rajasthan," Sharma said, as per an official statement.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel were among the prominent leaders at the memorial to pay their respects. Many citizens also gathered to honour the memory of the late statesman.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also paid homage. In a message on X, he wrote, “Humble tribute on the death anniversary of former Vice President of India and former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Bhairon Singh Shekhawat ji.”
