Dotasra Slams Modi Government for Silence on US President’s Ceasefire Announcement Involving India-Pakistan

Jaipur, May 12 – Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra on Sunday raised serious concerns over the role of US President Donald Trump in the recently announced India-Pakistan ceasefire following Operation Sindoor, demanding an explanation from the Centre over alleged foreign intervention in bilateral matters.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Jaipur, Dotasra said that while the Congress fully supports the Indian Army’s action against terrorism—especially in the aftermath of the killing of 26 civilians by Pakistan-backed terrorists—it is troubling that the ceasefire was first mentioned by a foreign leader.

“The Indian Army destroyed terrorist hideouts, and the entire nation is proud of our soldiers,” Dotasra said, reaffirming support for anti-terror efforts.
However, he questioned the Modi government's silence over Trump’s social media post that claimed both India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire, suggesting US involvement in the decision.

“It is surprising that the US President announced the ceasefire, and the Indian government accepted it. Till now, the Centre has not explained why a country like America was allowed to intervene,” he said.
Dotasra also criticized the US President’s portrayal of India and Pakistan as equals in the message, calling it “a matter of shame.”

“It is extremely concerning that the US President, for the first time, referred to intervening in the Kashmir issue, and the Indian government has not denied this till date,” he added.
He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi convene an all-party meeting and a special session of the Lok Sabha to provide transparency on the ceasefire and the sequence of events leading up to it.

“Modi addressed the nation on demonetisation, but has remained silent on an issue of such international importance,” Dotasra stated, questioning the government’s position on third-party mediation in Kashmir.

Calls for BJP MLA Kanwarlal Meena’s Disqualification

Shifting focus to a state-level issue, Dotasra slammed the delay in disqualifying BJP MLA Kanwarlal Meena, whose three-year sentence in a 20-year-old criminal case has been upheld by both the Rajasthan High Court and the Supreme Court.

Meena was found guilty in 2020 by a Jhalawar court of obstructing government work, intimidating officials, and vandalising property. Yet, Dotasra claimed, the Rajasthan Assembly Speaker has failed to act on a memorandum submitted by Congress on May 5 demanding the MLA’s disqualification.

“As per rules, if guilt is proven, the membership should be automatically cancelled,” he asserted, warning of legal action if no action is taken within 24 hours.
Drawing a parallel with the swift disqualification of Rahul Gandhi following a Gujarat court verdict, Dotasra said:

“When the Gujarat court gave its decision, Rahul Gandhi's membership was cancelled within 24 hours. But here, despite 25 days passing, no action has been taken under BJP rule.”
The Congress leader concluded with a strong call for accountability and transparency from both state and central authorities, accusing the BJP of double standards in matters of legality and national interest.
