Jaipur, March 3 – Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Monday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Rajasthan, describing its tenure as “disappointing.” Pilot, addressing the media in Pali district, expressed concerns over the government's failure to fulfill its promises, accusing it of prioritizing announcements over actual progress.
Pilot, a former deputy chief minister of Rajasthan, pointed out that the BJP's government, which came to power in December 2023, had missed several opportunities to bring meaningful change. He said, “In these 12-14 months, the government could have done a lot but it has only made announcements.”
He specifically highlighted issues within the state's budget, which promised the creation of four lakh jobs but had failed to deliver. “Right now, crop purchases are delayed, young people are not receiving scholarships, and loans are not being disbursed. Construction work in rural areas has almost come to a standstill,” Pilot added.
Further criticizing the internal structure of the BJP government, Pilot claimed there were too many power centres, leading to internal conflicts. He also accused the administration of being dominated by the bureaucracy, with even ruling party legislators struggling to get their work done.
Pilot pointed out that the government lacked control over the administration, making it difficult for elected representatives to perform their duties effectively.
The Congress leader also dismissed the BJP's decision to cancel government accommodation for Cabinet Minister Kirodi Lal Meena, calling it a "joke."
Despite the BJP's tenure, Pilot affirmed that the Congress party remained strong. "We are working hard, and the organization is moving ahead strongly. Leaders are united, and the party has established a strong presence in every district, block, and division," he stated.
Pilot concluded by urging the BJP government to introspect, questioning how many of its promises had been fulfilled. He claimed that during legislative discussions, the government was often on the back foot, with ministers struggling to provide answers.
As the political landscape heats up, Congress appears poised to continue challenging the BJP’s governance in Rajasthan, seeking accountability for its unfulfilled promises.
