Jaipur, March 3: The crime rate in Rajasthan has witnessed a 7.74% decline in the past year, the state government informed the assembly on Monday. Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham presented the figures while discussing the grant demands of the Home Department, attributing the decline to the state’s firm stance on law enforcement.

Crime Reduction and Government's Efforts

According to Bedham, 2,31,240 cases were registered in 2023, compared to 2,13,351 cases in 2024, reflecting a reduction of 17,889 cases. He emphasized that Rajasthan Police is following a zero-tolerance policy towards crime, ensuring a safer environment for the people.

“The state government's top priority is to make Rajasthan crime-free and corruption-free while maintaining law and order. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma is making critical decisions with full sensitivity to achieve this goal,” he stated.

Paper Leak Investigations and SIT Actions

Targeting the previous government, Bedham highlighted irregularities in exam paper security. He pointed out that 17 out of 19 exams were leaked during the previous administration’s tenure. In response, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe these cases.

Since January 1, 2024, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has conducted 146 examinations without any paper leaks, Bedham informed the assembly. The SIT is currently investigating 43 exams held under the previous government, identifying paper leaks in 16 exams and other irregularities in 27 exams.

Assembly Approves Home Department Grants

Following the discussions, the House passed the demands for grants related to the Home Department, reinforcing the government's commitment to strengthening law enforcement and administrative efficiency.

The Rajasthan government's report on crime reduction and its aggressive approach toward curbing corruption indicate a firm stance on governance and public security.
