Jaipur, March 2 – Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani has called for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to carry out a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations of sexual assault and blackmail involving schoolgirls in Beawar district.
In response to the growing concern over the incident, Devnani directed senior officials in Beawar to probe the financial backing of the accused and to demolish any illegal properties linked to them. Beawar, which was previously part of Ajmer district, has been embroiled in communal tensions after the allegations of sexual assault and attempted forced conversion involving five minor girls.
Investigation Expands as Arrests Increase
As of now, ten men have been arrested, and three minor boys have been detained in connection with the case. The Speaker has ordered the Beawar district collector and the superintendent of police to set up an SIT for a deeper investigation into the matter. A delegation from the Sarv Samaj Sangharsh Samiti, Bijainagar, met with Devnani at his residence in Ajmer on Saturday, urging the creation of the SIT for a thorough examination of the case.
The committee has described the incident as a well-planned conspiracy, claiming that it is part of an organized crime aimed at entrapping innocent minors.
Focus on Preventive Measures
Devnani has also issued instructions to both the Beawar and Ajmer police to conduct regular checks at cafes, restaurants, and hotels along highways, urban areas, and colonies to curb such crimes. He emphasized the need for vigilance from parents, school administrations, and teachers, urging them to report any suspicious activity to local authorities immediately.
Details of the Alleged Crimes
The case, which came to light after one of the victims reportedly stole Rs 2,000 from her father’s wallet to allegedly pay one of the accused, involves serious accusations of sexual exploitation and blackmail. A Chinese mobile phone was also recovered from the girl, with reports indicating that she had been in communication with one of the accused via the device.
Three FIRs were filed on February 16 following complaints from the victims’ families. Investigating officer Sher Singh confirmed that the arrested individuals include eight Muslims and two Hindus, both of whom are café operators. The three minors detained in connection with the case are also Muslim.
Tensions Rise Amid Encroachment Actions
In the wake of the incident, the families of the accused, along with the local Jama Masjid and a century-old graveyard, received encroachment notices from the Bijainagar municipality. Some encroachments have already been removed, further fueling tensions in the area.
The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the details surrounding these allegations and address the growing communal discord.
