Shimla, Feb 26 – The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a ₹5 crore investment to enhance tourism infrastructure in Rakchham, a picturesque village situated in the Sangla Valley of Kinnaur district. The initiative aims to boost tourism in the region, known for its natural beauty and proximity to Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border.
According to Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) Chairman Raghubir Singh Bali, the government is committed to improving facilities in Rakchham and its surrounding areas, including Batsari and Kharogla. As part of the development plan, walking trails in these locations will be repaired, and essential public amenities such as toilets, watchman huts, wooden cottages, and watch towers will be constructed.
A key highlight of the project is the introduction of a trolley-based trail from Sangla via Debar Kanda to Sangla Kanda, which is expected to offer tourists a unique travel experience while exploring the valley’s breathtaking landscapes. Additionally, efforts are being made to promote adventure tourism in the region, further positioning it as a prime destination for nature and thrill-seekers.
Bali emphasized that the government is dedicated to strengthening tourism infrastructure across Himachal Pradesh. Several upcoming projects in different locations will contribute to the state's growing tourism industry, ensuring better facilities and an enriched experience for visitors.
This investment marks a significant step towards sustainable tourism development in Kinnaur, reinforcing its appeal as a must-visit destination in Himachal Pradesh.
