New Delhi, Feb 28: Former President Ram Nath Kovind underscored the significance of courage, compassion, justice, dedication, and morality as essential guiding principles for individuals and society. Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on Diyasalai, the autobiography of Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, Kovind emphasized how these values have the power to eradicate darkness and foster meaningful societal transformation.
“If we keep the flame of these values burning within us, we can illuminate the darkness around us,” Kovind stated, highlighting the profound impact of ethical commitment.
Commending Satyarthi’s relentless advocacy for justice and child welfare, Kovind recalled a defining moment when the Nobel Laureate fearlessly addressed the issue of child abuse within the church during a conversation with Pope Francis. He noted that this act exemplified Satyarthi’s moral fortitude and unwavering truthfulness.
“He fearlessly exposed the reality, leading to the enactment of stringent global laws against child exploitation within the church,” Kovind remarked, praising the transformative impact of Satyarthi’s advocacy.
The former president lauded Satyarthi’s lifelong dedication to child rights, stating that his values and relentless activism had turned him into more than an individual—he had become a movement in himself.
“These five virtues—courage, compassion, justice, dedication, and morality—have made Kailash Satyarthi an institution, a revolution,” Kovind asserted.
Reflecting on his own inspiration drawn from Satyarthi’s work, Kovind expressed deep admiration for the Nobel Laureate’s determination and perseverance. He urged society to take collective responsibility in ensuring education and protection for children.
“This is a call to all of us to contribute to children's education. Let us pledge to ignite the spark within us and work towards a positive transformation in society,” Kovind concluded.
