REASI, FEBRUARY 11: DIG Udhampur–Reasi Range, Sarah Rizvi, and Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, chaired a high-level meeting to finalize arrangements for the Mahashivratri Mela 2026, scheduled from February 14 to 16 at the Shri Shiv Khori Shrine.

The officers reviewed security, traffic management, sanitation, drinking water, power supply, healthcare, fire safety, crowd control, and cultural programs to ensure the smooth conduct of the annual event, which attracts thousands of devotees. The DC emphasized real-time monitoring, inter-departmental coordination, and timely completion of arrangements.

Authorities informed that 18 langar stalls have been permitted, mobile toilets have been installed, waste management measures have been put in place, and adequate water and power supply arrangements have been ensured. The Public Works Department (PWD) and PMGSY were directed to repair approach roads, while the Health Department was asked to deploy medical teams and ambulances.

The Motor Vehicles Department was instructed to implement a traffic plan and prevent overcharging. Fire tenders will be stationed at key points, and CCTV surveillance will be strengthened with additional cameras.

The DIG emphasized multi-layered security, police verification of hired staff, and strict vigilance by magistrates. Arrangements for the Dangal on February 16 were also reviewed. Senior civil and police officers attended the meeting.
