Addressing the gathering, the MLA highlighted the spiritual significance of Shiv Khori and said that the mela not only strengthens faith but also promotes religious tourism and local livelihoods in the region. He praised the coordinated efforts of the district administration, police, health, and other relevant departments for making comprehensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of the mela. Thousands of devotees from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir and outside the Union Territory are expected to pay their respects at the holy cave shrine during this three-day religious gathering. Elaborate arrangements related to security, sanitation, drinking water, healthcare, power supply, and traffic regulation have been put in place to ensure a safe and comfortable pilgrimage. The Shiv Khori Mela is an annual 3-day festival held during Maha Shivratri in Ransoo, Reasi district, celebrating Lord Shiva's legendary escape into a cave from the demon Bhasmasur.
The mela will conclude on February 16, with traditional wrestling matches, rituals, prayers, and devotional activities.
