Jammu, April 1: Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Rising Star Corps, met Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday to assess the current security landscape in the region.
The high-level meeting focused on the operational situation in sensitive zones including Kathua, Samba, and parts of Jammu, particularly along the International Border. These areas fall under the operational command of the Rising Star Corps.
Lt Gen Sharawat was joined by Major General Mukesh Bhanwala, GOC of the Tiger Division, during the discussions with the Lieutenant Governor. Officials noted that the dialogue covered a broad range of key security issues.
This interaction comes amid an ongoing 10-day counter-terrorism operation in the Kathua district. The operation has resulted in the neutralization of two terrorists. However, it has also claimed the lives of four police personnel, while three others — including a Deputy Superintendent of Police — were injured in the line of duty.
The meeting underscores the continued coordination between civil administration and military leadership to maintain vigilance and strengthen security mechanisms across the border-sensitive regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
