New Delhi, May 10 – In response to heightened security concerns stemming from the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) across Delhi have intensified their vigilance and implemented a series of precautionary measures to enhance community safety.

RWAs Tighten Surveillance and Community Monitoring

In East Delhi, the local RWAs have increased surveillance, particularly by monitoring the entry of non-residents. BS Vohra, President of the East Delhi RWA Federation, emphasized the importance of community alertness.

“We are asking our team members to remain alert and vigilant. Surveillance of outsiders entering the locality has been increased,” Vohra said.
He also stated that residents are being regularly informed about safety protocols while assuring them that there is no cause for panic, placing confidence in the Indian Army’s preparedness.

Precautionary Restrictions in Residential Complexes

In Dwarka, one housing society has temporarily restricted the entry of delivery personnel beyond the main gate for a 48-hour period. The society has mandated that gates remain shut, with security guards instructed to allow entry only when absolutely necessary.

“We need to be extra cautious right now. The situation is sensitive and calls for preventive action,” the society noted in a statement.

Focus on PG Accommodations in Mukherjee Nagar

North Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, known for its large student population residing in paying guest accommodations, has seen a ramped-up verification process. BN Jha, President of the local RWA, reported active checks on PG residents.

“We are verifying all PG accommodations and their residents. On Friday, a siren was sounded around 3 pm to alert people about safety protocols,” Jha said.
He added that printed safety guidelines are being distributed, with special attention given to the well-being of children and students. Local police are collaborating in these efforts through awareness campaigns and documentation checks.

Community Outreach and Emergency Readiness

Saurabh Gandhi, President of United Residents Joint Action (URJA), highlighted the importance of preparedness and public education.

“We recently conducted a mock drill and are going door-to-door to educate people about what to do in case of an emergency,” Gandhi shared.
He advised residents to maintain a list of emergency contacts, prepare basic emergency kits, and establish communication plans within families to ensure coordination in the event of a crisis.

“These small steps can make a big difference during uncertain times,” Gandhi added.
As tensions continue to rise, RWAs across Delhi remain committed to maintaining order, building awareness, and ensuring the safety of their communities.
