Johannesburg, Feb 3 (PTI) – In a significant move aimed at ensuring stability and better international scheduling, SA20 and Cricket South Africa (CSA) have formalized the tournament’s window for the next three years. This decision, announced on Monday, is set to bring "certainty" to stakeholders while aiding the national team in planning its international commitments.

According to the newly established schedule, Season 4 of the franchise-based league will kick off on December 26, 2025, and conclude on January 26, 2026. The timing aligns strategically with the ICC T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka in February 2026.

Season 5 will revert to its traditional window, running from January 9 to February 14, 2027, followed by Season 6, which is scheduled from January 9 to February 13, 2028.

Graeme Smith, former South Africa captain and SA20 League Commissioner, emphasized the importance of long-term scheduling, stating, “Confirming the SA20 window for a three-year period allows the league to bring certainty to all stakeholders and assists in securing our place when planning the global calendar.”

Highlighting the league’s strategy to maximize engagement, Smith added, “We know fans respond particularly well to weekend and holiday fixtures. With the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled for early February next year, our Season 4 dates provide a unique opportunity to capitalize on South Africa’s peak cricket season.”

Additionally, the early announcement has facilitated an extended window from 2026/27, optimizing scheduling, logistics, and enhancing the fan experience. The tournament’s timeline has been carefully planned in alignment with the ICC’s confirmed schedule until 2031 and the current Future Tours Programme (FTP) running until 2027.

Meanwhile, Season 3 of SA20 is currently in its business end, with the final set to take place on February 8.
