New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) – BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Sunday accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Somnath Bharti of attempting to influence the investigation into a land-grabbing case in South Delhi. The allegations were strongly refuted by Bharti, who in turn accused a BJP MP of involvement in the matter.

Addressing a press conference at the Delhi BJP office, Patra played a purported audio clip, claiming that Bharti, the AAP MLA from Malviya Nagar, pressured an investigating officer to exonerate an accused individual and destroy evidence in exchange for a bribe.

According to Patra, the case in question was registered in the Jaitpur area on November 10, 2023, and a chargesheet had already been filed. The accused, he alleged, was a close associate of Bharti, who had tried to shield him. Patra further claimed that a video of Bharti meeting the investigating officer existed and that the BJP would release it on its social media platforms. He added that the party was considering legal action in the matter.

Reacting to the allegations, Bharti took to social media platform X, stating that while campaigning for the upcoming February 5 Delhi polls, he became aware of the BJP’s attempt to link his name to the land-grabbing case. Defending himself, Bharti asserted that he had approached the Delhi High Court pro bono and secured a stay in favor of the aggrieved party.

With both parties leveling serious accusations against each other, the issue has taken a political turn just days before the Delhi elections.
