Says Government Demoralised Armed Forces, Alleges US Mediation Undermined Sovereignty
Mumbai, May 11 — Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the central government for agreeing to a ceasefire with Pakistan amid heightened military tensions, demanding an all-party meeting to discuss the terms of the agreement.
Speaking to reporters, Raut accused the government of missing an opportunity to deliver a decisive blow to Pakistan and alleged that the move had demoralised India’s armed forces. He also questioned the role of US President Donald Trump in announcing the ceasefire, asking, “What does Donald Trump have to do with it?”
Allegations of Foreign Influence and Industrial Interests
Raut claimed that the ceasefire understanding was reached even as a Pakistani missile headed for Delhi was intercepted in Haryana, and warned that Gujarat could have also been a target. He alleged the government acted under pressure to safeguard certain industrial interests in Gujarat."Under what authority was Trump mediating since Operation Sindoor is yet to get over? India is a sovereign country with a population of 140 crore. Trump directs and we agree to a ceasefire under what terms and conditions? What has India got?" he questioned.
Calls for Prime Minister's Presence in Meeting
Raut urged the Prime Minister to convene an all-party meeting and be present himself to explain the ceasefire decision. “There should be an all-party meeting to deliberate under what terms and conditions was the ceasefire agreed upon,” he said.He expressed disappointment that the political leadership, in his view, fumbled at a decisive moment. “The armed forces were full of spirit. There was no need to withdraw at this stage. This decision has been taken to benefit someone,” he claimed.
Questions on International Support and Terror Probe
Raut also raised concerns about international support, saying that while China and Turkey backed Pakistan, no country came forward in India’s support. “Whose failure is it?” he asked. He stressed that Operation Sindoor remains incomplete until the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack are neutralised. “Where are the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack? Till the terrorists are killed, Operation Sindoor is incomplete,” he asserted.
Raut concluded by saying the BJP should seek Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation over what he described as a betrayal of the nation.
