
SRINAGAR, February 15: An FPO conclave was held on the second day of GON'GUL 2026, the 11th AgriTech Mela of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir at Shalimar.
The conclave featured a panel discussion with representatives from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission, the Department of Agriculture, and the Directorate of Horticulture Kashmir. The discussions focused on financial convergence, market access, institutional support, and policy measures to scale up Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs).
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai emphasized the need to strengthen farmer collectives through institutional support, technology integration, and robust marketing systems to drive rural transformation.
The programme included interactions with FPO leaders, a presentation on future strategies for FPOs in J&K, the felicitation of newly formed FPOs, and strong participation at agri-technology stalls and advisory counters, reflecting growing interest in innovation-led agriculture.
