Srinagar, May 12 – After nearly a week-long closure due to heightened tensions along the border, all schools and colleges in the non-border districts of Jammu and Kashmir are set to reopen on Tuesday.

The announcement was made by Jammu and Kashmir's Education Minister Sakina Ittoo via a post on X (formerly Twitter). “All schools and colleges to reopen from tomorrow in non-border districts of Jammu as well as Kashmir,” the minister stated.

The educational institutions across the Union Territory had been temporarily shut last week following a military standoff between India and Pakistan, prompting precautionary measures for the safety of students and staff.

However, the University of Kashmir has extended the suspension of its examinations. All scheduled university exams have been postponed until May 14.

This phased reopening marks a step towards normalcy in the region following recent cross-border tensions.
