New Delhi, May 12 — The Delhi government has decided to cancel the second part of the Assembly's budget session, which was scheduled to commence from Tuesday, officials confirmed on Monday. Fresh dates for the session will be announced later.
The session was expected to see the tabling and passage of the Delhi School Education Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees Bill, 2025, aimed at regulating fees in private schools across the capital.
An official stated, "The government has decided to defer the session. New dates will be announced later on."
The first part of the budget session began on March 24, during which Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also serves as the finance minister, presented her maiden budget.
Gupta unveiled a Rs 1 lakh crore budget for the financial year 2025-26, marking a 31.5 per cent increase from the previous year’s outlay.
The cancellation comes amid high public interest in education reforms, particularly in fee regulation at private schools, and has drawn attention to the government's legislative agenda moving forward.
