
Srinagar, February 13 Security forces conducted surprise checks in the Lal Chowk area of the city on Friday ahead of the seventh anniversary of the 2019 Pulwama suicide attack, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel, officials said.
Teams from the Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out surprise checks and searches in the commercial hub of Lal Chowk, they said.
They added that the police searched hotels, checked the rooms and luggage of hotel guests.
The police personnel also checked the identification cards of the hotel guests, the officials said.
The checks are part of the security measures ahead of the seventh anniversary of the Pulwama attack, which took place on February 14, 2019, when a car laden with explosives rammed into a CRPF convoy at Lethpora in Pulwama district in south Kashmir, along the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
The suicide attack resulted in the death of 40 CRPF personnel.
