Nagpur Administration Launches Coordinated Multi-Agency Exercises; RSS HQ, Ordnance Factory, and IAF Maintenance Command Covered

Nagpur, May 10 – In a proactive move to strengthen emergency preparedness, security drills, and inter-agency coordination exercises were conducted across multiple sensitive installations in Nagpur, including the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters, the ordnance factory, and the Air Force Maintenance Command.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal and District Collector Vipin Itankar confirmed that all high-security locations have been covered under the drill.

“Security drills and inter-departmental coordination have already been completed at all sensitive installations, including the RSS headquarters,” said Commissioner Singal.

The collector added that the drills are part of a state-wide preparedness initiative following a high-level disaster readiness meeting chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday. The first phase of the program involved mock drills across eight districts, with instructions now issued for all districts, including Nagpur, to follow suit.

Full District-Level Disaster Management Plan Activated

In response, the Nagpur administration has rolled out a comprehensive district-level disaster management plan. The plan includes collaboration from key departments such as health, police, fire services, and civil supplies to ensure a coordinated response in emergency scenarios.

At 3:15 PM, the Nagpur city police conducted a coordinated mock drill across five administrative zones. The exercise was aimed at evaluating emergency response capabilities in a simulated crisis.

“The drills will be conducted during both daytime and nighttime hours to ensure comprehensive preparedness,” Singal stated. He elaborated that nighttime drills would involve specific protocols like switching off lights, drawing curtains, and simulating blackout conditions to mirror real-life emergency situations.

Public Awareness at the Core

To enhance public participation and understanding, the government has launched a 1.5-minute awareness video. This video educates citizens on the actions they should take once emergency sirens are activated.

“Our goal is to make citizens confident and informed. These drills involve everyone,” emphasized Collector Itankar, underlining the importance of civic awareness in building resilience against crises.

The administration plans to continue such exercises regularly to fine-tune coordination between departments and ensure that Nagpur remains fully prepared for any eventuality.
