Indore, March 3: In a shocking incident at a jewellery store in Indore's Bhanwarkuan area, a security guard allegedly shot and injured his co-worker after a heated dispute arose from a photograph showing him sleeping during duty hours.
The accused, identified as 56-year-old Pramod Pandey, has been arrested by the Indore Police on charges of attempted murder. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anand Yadav, confirmed the arrest and seizure of the weapon involved—a licensed 12-bore gun.
According to police reports, the incident unfolded when Pandey was photographed sleeping outside the jewellery store by 49-year-old salesman Sanjay Jagtap on Saturday night. Jagtap then shared the picture in a WhatsApp group dedicated to store employees.
Infuriated by the embarrassment, Pandey confronted Jagtap on Sunday night, leading to a heated argument. The situation escalated rapidly, resulting in Pandey opening fire on Jagtap. The victim sustained injuries to his hand and various other parts of his body due to bullet fragments.
Jagtap was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, where he remains hospitalized. Authorities have confirmed that his condition is stable and not life-threatening.
Police have registered a formal case against Pandey and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
