New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – Homegrown wind energy company Senvion has announced a strategic partnership with Voodin Blade Technology to develop wooden wind turbine blades for its 4.2 MW wind turbine platform.
This collaboration aims to address the critical challenge of blade recyclability by incorporating engineered wood, a renewable and recyclable material, into turbine blade designs, the company said in a statement. Blade disposal and recyclability remain some of the biggest concerns for the wind energy industry, making this initiative a significant step towards sustainability.
Voodin Blade Technology, a Germany-based firm, specializes in manufacturing wind turbine blades using laminated veneer lumber (LVL). Its advanced LVL production method eliminates the need for moulds, thereby reducing energy consumption in manufacturing and ensuring superior quality through automated processes, Senvion highlighted.
Commenting on the partnership, Amit Kansal, CEO and MD of Senvion India, stated:
"We have engineered this turbine to exceed the expectations of our global customers, ensuring superior performance and reliability in the most challenging environments. We have evaluated Voodin’s technology and see great potential in terms of sustainability and flexibility."
Senvion is recognized as one of the leading wind turbine manufacturers in the renewable energy sector. This initiative aligns with the global push toward eco-friendly and sustainable energy solutions, reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
