Thane, February 27 – A 27-year-old serial offender has been arrested for stealing ₹7 lakh in cash from a shop in the Mira Road area, police confirmed on Thursday.
According to an official from Kashigaon police station, the accused, identified as Ismail Isaac Sheikh, was apprehended on Monday. The theft occurred on February 20, while the shop owner, a 70-year-old woman, was away in Gujarat.
During the investigation, the police recovered ₹4.5 lakh in cash along with 25 pairs of clothing that Sheikh had purchased using the stolen money.
Sheikh, a repeat offender, has 10 cases of robbery and theft registered against him in various police stations across the Mira-Bhayandar area. Authorities are continuing their probe into the matter.
