Bengaluru, Feb 3 (PTI) – Karnataka Minister for Higher Education, M C Sudhakar, announced on Monday that seven states have confirmed their participation in the upcoming conclave of Higher Education Ministers, scheduled for February 5 in Bengaluru.
According to Sudhakar, ministers from Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala will be attending the crucial meeting.
In an official press release, the Karnataka Higher Education Minister stated that the conclave aims to deliberate on the draft regulations issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) concerning the appointment of Vice Chancellors and other policies governing higher education institutions.
"It has come to light that regional parties in some states, despite being in alliance with the NDA, are unable to openly express their opposition," Sudhakar remarked.
However, he noted that parties like Janata Dal (United), Telugu Desam Party, and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas Paswan), which are allied with the NDA, have issued public statements voicing their dissatisfaction on this matter.
Sudhakar further revealed that the Higher Education Minister from New Delhi would not be attending the conclave due to the upcoming elections in the national capital.
The conclave is expected to address key concerns regarding autonomy, governance, and policy reforms in higher education institutions across participating states.
