Thane, Feb 3 (PTI) – In a crackdown on illegal animal fights, police have booked 40 individuals for organizing a sheep fight in Thane district, an official said on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday in Dombivli East, prompting swift action by the Crime Branch Unit III, which conducted a raid at the site. According to an official from Tilaknagar police station, the accused have been booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Maharashtra Police Act.
"So far, ten individuals have been identified, but no arrests have been made in the case," the official confirmed.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the remaining accused and ensure strict action against those involved in the illegal event.
