New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, following a series of terror incidents in the region, sources revealed.

The high-level meeting will focus on assessing the implementation of the government's zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and the progress of ongoing counter-terror operations. Shah's review comes just a day after a deadly terror attack in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, where ex-serviceman Manzoor Ahmad Wagay was killed, and his wife and niece sustained injuries.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, along with senior officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Ministry of Home Affairs, are expected to participate in the meeting.

During the last security review on December 19, 2024, Shah had emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among security agencies to completely eliminate terrorism from the region. Officials maintain that terrorist activities, infiltration, and recruitment of local youth into terror organizations have significantly declined in recent years.

Security forces have ramped up counter-terror operations, particularly in the higher reaches and forested areas along the Line of Control (LoC), aiming to neutralize militants responsible for multiple attacks in the past year. The districts of Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, Jammu, and Rajouri have witnessed a surge in terror-related activities over the last two years, prompting intensified security measures.

The upcoming meeting is expected to outline further strategies to curb terrorism and strengthen security in the Union Territory.
