February 15, Srinagar: Mahashivratri, locally known as Herath, was celebrated with religious fervor across Kashmir on February 15. Members of the Hindu and Kashmiri Pandit communities paid their respects at various temples and offered special prayers on this auspicious occasion.
The largest gathering was observed at the historic Shankaracharya Temple, located on Shankaracharya Hill in the Zabarwan Range. A large number of devotees flocked to the hilltop shrine to participate in sacred rituals and pray for peace, harmony, and brotherhood in the country.
The temple premises witnessed a steady flow of worshippers throughout the day. Devotees performed traditional rituals with devotion, adding to the spiritual significance of the festival.
Authorities had made special arrangements to ensure smooth darshan and effective crowd management. Langar stalls were also set up for devotees, further enhancing the spiritual and festive atmosphere at the shrine.
