Mumbai, February 28: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) leaders in Maharashtra have been assigned division-wise responsibilities to strengthen the party’s organization and monitor the state government’s functioning. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by party supremo Sharad Pawar on Friday.

During the meeting, Pawar urged party leaders to assess the prevailing political scenario in the state and keep a close watch on the performance of the Devendra Fadnavis-led government, which has completed 100 days in office.

Key Leadership Assignments

Following the meeting, NCP (SP) Lok Sabha MP Amol Kolhe announced the division-wise responsibilities assigned to key leaders:
  • Vidarbha: Anil Deshmukh and Rajendra Shingane
  • Marathwada: Rajesh Tope and Jaiprakash Dandegaonkar
  • Western Maharashtra: Shashikant Shinde and Harshvardhan Patil
  • Konkan: Sunil Bhusara and Jitendra Awhad
Kolhe further stated that party leaders will tour the state on March 7-8, holding taluka-level meetings to bolster the party’s presence and organization.

Focus on Governance Issues

Kolhe highlighted several burning issues that NCP (SP) plans to bring to public attention:
  • Rising power tariffs
  • Increase in crimes and atrocities against women
  • Unrest within the ruling Mahayuti alliance
Criticizing the Mahayuti government, Kolhe remarked, "The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is functioning smoothly, while Mahayuti is struggling with internal differences."

Condemnation of Minister’s Statement on Pune Crime

Referring to the recent Pune rape case, Kolhe strongly condemned Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam's statement, which downplayed the crime by saying "there was no struggle or force." Kolhe termed such remarks as childish and an attempt to trivialize the seriousness of the issue.

Allegations Against Government

Kolhe also alleged that ministers in the ruling government lack the power to appoint their own officers on special duty (OSD) and staff.

Dismissing rumors of defections from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), he accused the ruling alliance of spreading false narratives to divert attention from real governance issues affecting Maharashtra.

With the party's leadership now actively strategizing for the upcoming elections, NCP (SP) is set to strengthen its grassroots presence across the state.
