Sharad Pawar Backs Operation Sindoor, Urges Global Unity Against Terrorism

Acting against terrorism is collective duty of international community: Sharad Pawar.webp

Pune, May 10 — Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) chief and former Defence Minister Sharad Pawar on Saturday voiced strong support for Operation Sindoor, calling it a crucial move for India's security and urging the international community to take united action against terrorism.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, Pawar stated, “India has always stood for peace and dialogue. If steps are being taken in that direction, they are welcome. However, taking firm action against terrorism is also a collective duty of the international community.”

Pawar emphasized that India had never supported terrorism and that the recent operation specifically targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. “The country has never endorsed terrorism, and it carried out sharp and precise strikes only on terrorist camps through Operation Sindoor,” he noted.

Clarifying the intent of the military action, he added, “There was no intention of attacking any Pakistani military base or civilian area. This action was essential for the security of the nation.”

Referring to the brutal killing of 26 tourists in Pahalgam by terrorists, Pawar underlined that the Indian response was marked by both restraint and determination. “To respond to Pakistan’s repeated provocations with restraint and decisiveness was India’s responsibility, and it fulfilled the same while being mindful of global peace,” he concluded.
