Srinagar, February 14 Property belonging to a suspected drug peddler was seized in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.

As part of ongoing efforts to curb drug-related activities, the J&K Police have seized a single-story residential house worth over Rs 26 lakh belonging to Sartaj Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Memander Shopian, a police spokesperson said.

He said the property was found to have been acquired using money obtained through the sale of illegal drugs and narcotics.

The accused has been previously involved in multiple NDPS cases, he added.

The seizure was carried out in the presence of a duly constituted police team, an Executive Magistrate, a Lambardar, and a Chowkidar, ensuring full compliance with all legal protocols, the spokesperson said.
