Sift Kaur Samra, a 23-year-old Asian Games gold medallist, dominated the women’s 50m 3 positions final, scoring an impressive 461.2 points to secure the top spot. Expressing her joy, Samra said,

"This feels like a comeback for me after the Olympics. I didn’t take a break and kept training, so winning gold today feels special. I’m pleased with how I executed my routine and the small details that made the difference. It’s also wonderful to share the podium with Anjum, who’s an incredible shooter."
Her compatriot Anjum Moudgil, also from Punjab, secured the silver medal with 458.7 points, while Telangana’s Surabhi Bhardwaj Rapole claimed bronze with 448.8 points.

Moudgil, a two-time silver medallist at the 2018 World Championships, praised Samra’s consistency, stating,

"This is the third National Games where Sift and I have finished on the podium together. She’s an extraordinary shooter, and I’ve always admired her. Though my scores weren’t great at the beginning, I stayed calm and focused, which helped me reach the podium. This has been the best shooting range I’ve competed in, and the organisation has been fantastic."

Jonathan Anthony Triumphs in Men’s 10m Pistol Event

In the men’s 10m pistol final, Jonathan Anthony delivered a composed and flawless performance to claim gold, while SSCB’s Ravinder Singh secured silver and his teammate Gurpreet Singh took bronze.

An elated Anthony shared his excitement, saying,

"I’m thrilled with this win. Competing against such talented shooters who have represented India at the highest level makes this victory even more meaningful. Today was my day, and I’m proud of how it all came together."
The ongoing 38th National Games continues to witness intense competition, highlighting India’s emerging talent in shooting and other sporting disciplines.
