PS Tamang Calls Golden Jubilee a Tribute to Sikkim’s Shared Identity and Collective Pride
Gangtok, May 17—Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang has expressed his sincere gratitude to leaders, friends, and well-wishers across the nation for their warm greetings on the occasion of the state's 50th Statehood Day, celebrated on May 16.Reflecting on the milestone, Tamang said the celebrations were not just ceremonial but a heartfelt display of unity and pride shared by every Sikkimese. “On behalf of the people of Sikkim, I extend my heartiest gratitude to all our esteemed leaders, friends, and well-wishers who sent us their warm greetings and best wishes on the occasion of our Golden Jubilee, 50 glorious years of Statehood,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
The Chief Minister noted that the kind words and blessings received added deeper meaning to the historic occasion. He also paid tribute to the people of Sikkim for their active and enthusiastic participation in the celebrations.
A Grand Tribute to Sikkim’s Journey
The 50th Statehood Day began with a Tiranga rally led by CM Tamang from MG Marg to Paljor Stadium, setting a spirited tone for the day. Governor Om Prakash Mathur and CM Tamang jointly congratulated the citizens, marking the day as one of reflection, pride, and celebration.Addressing the people of the state, Tamang stated, “My dear fellow Sikkimese, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Your love, support, and enthusiastic participation made this celebration truly special. You didn’t just witness history; you lived it, celebrated it, and made it memorable.”
He concluded by emphasizing that Sikkim is more than just a geographical entity — it is “a feeling, a shared identity, and a collective pride.”
