Gangtok, May 11 — To mark the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood, the Press Club of Sikkim, in collaboration with the state government, is set to host a special conclave titled ‘Sikkim@50: Golden Jubilee Conclave 1975–2025’. The event will take place at Adampool, near Gangtok, and is being organised by the Information and Public Relations (IPR) Department along with the press club.

The conclave will bring together a diverse group of eminent personalities who will reflect on Sikkim’s journey since its integration into India in 1975 and offer insights into its future growth.

Press Club of Sikkim president Bhim Rawat said the event aims to highlight the significant milestones the state has achieved over the past five decades. He also noted that the conclave would provide a platform to discuss emerging investment opportunities in the region.

Senior District Information Officer (Gangtok), Sarojini Subba, emphasized that the conclave is not only a celebration of statehood but also an initiative to spotlight the role of media — the fourth pillar of democracy — in Sikkim’s development.

Subba further underlined the strategic importance of the event, especially in the current geopolitical climate, given Sikkim’s location along India's international borders.

The conclave is expected to serve as a meaningful dialogue on the state’s past, present, and future while fostering a deeper understanding of its developmental trajectory.
