
Singapore, February 13 Singapore police have charged an Indian national with attempting to murder an Indonesian woman using an axe, according to a media report.
Panneer Selvam Ayyappan is accused of attacking Fajar Nur Aini, an Indonesian national, by slashing her head, neck, and arms with an axe near 11 Sims View in the eastern part of Singapore around 7 am on Wednesday, Channel News Asia reported.
Ayyappan and Aini, both 30, knew each other, police said. The woman sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital, where she received treatment.
The Indian national allegedly intended to kill her, and if she had died, he would be guilty of murder, according to the charge sheet.
Panneer will appear in court on February 20, according to Channel News Asia.
If convicted of attempted murder, he could face a life sentence with corporal punishment, or a sentence of up to 20 years in prison with a fine or corporal punishment, or both.
