Mumbai, February 16 Veteran actor and Member of Parliament, Shatrughan Sinha, has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking protection of his personality rights, including his iconic dialogue "Khamosh" (silence).
A bench of Justice Sharmila Deshmukh heard the actor's plea on Monday and reserved its order on the interim relief sought by Sinha against websites and social media platforms for unauthorized use of his name, image, and his signature catchphrase.
The 79-year-old filmstar sought an interim injunction against all such websites, restraining them from using his name, image, persona, and mannerisms.
He argued in his petition that such misuse violated his fundamental rights.
Sinha sought a permanent injunction against parties from using his name, voice, mannerisms, signature catchphrase "Khamosh", and his overall persona for any commercial exploitation without his consent.
The petition insisted that the actor-politician has created significant goodwill and commercial value in his persona over the years, and such misuse is causing significant damage to him.
