Lakhisarai, Bihar — April 5: Authorities in Bihar's Lakhisarai district have arrested six individuals in connection with the alleged gangrape of an 18-year-old woman. The incident occurred on Thursday, and a manhunt is underway to trace two more suspects who are currently absconding.
According to Shivam Kumar, the Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Lakhisarai, the victim was approached by one of the accused during a train journey. He allegedly convinced her to get off at Kiul railway station by offering her a job opportunity. Upon deboarding, the man called several of his associates and took the woman to a secluded location where the assault took place.
Quoting the victim’s statement, the SDPO said the perpetrators gave her ₹100 and instructed her to leave after the assault. She subsequently reported the incident at the Kawaiya police station, naming eight individuals in her complaint.
Following the registration of the case, police swiftly acted and apprehended six of the accused on Friday from within the jurisdiction of Kawaiya police station. Efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining two suspects.
The woman has been sent to a government hospital for medical examination, officials confirmed.

Police have assured that all efforts are being made to bring the absconding accused to justice. The case has sparked concern across the region, drawing attention to the growing need for enhanced railway and public safety measures.
