Accident Occurred in Early Hours on Mumbai-Nashik Highway; Traffic Disrupted Temporarily

In the early hours of Sunday, six people, including a toddler and two minors, sustained injuries following a collision involving three vehicles at Cadbury junction bridge on the Eastern Express Highway in Thane, Maharashtra. The accident took place at around 1:26 am on the busy Mumbai-Nashik route, according to Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief, Yasin Tadvi.

Dumper Collision Triggers Chain Reaction Crash

The incident unfolded when the driver of a sand-laden dumper, traveling from Mulund Check Naka towards Kasheli, lost control of the vehicle. Consequently, the dumper collided into a truck traveling ahead. Due to the intense impact, the truck crashed into a car that was on its way from Marine Drive, Mumbai, to Anand Nagar on Ghodbunder Road, Thane.

Rescue Operation Lasted Nearly One Hour

Two occupants inside the car became trapped following the collision. Local fire brigade officials, alongside the regional disaster management cell, promptly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations. It took nearly an hour for the teams to safely extricate all six car occupants, who included a one-year-old child and two other minors.

Injured Admitted to Private Hospital

All six injured persons were immediately taken to a nearby private hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have confirmed that the condition of the victims is being closely monitored.

Traffic Diverted; Movement Restored Later

Following the accident, traffic from Cadbury junction bridge towards Ghodbunder Road remained closed for approximately one hour. To ease congestion, vehicles were diverted to the adjoining service road, although this resulted in slow movement for some time.

Eventually, fire brigade personnel, disaster management teams, and traffic police worked together to remove the damaged vehicles from the main roadway. Normal traffic flow was restored shortly thereafter.

Police Launch Search for Dumper Driver

Police authorities have initiated a search operation for the dumper driver, who fled the accident site immediately after the incident. A case has been registered against the absconding driver under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
