SJVN Green Energy Begins Commercial Operations of 78.23 MW at Bikaner Solar Project.webp

New Delhi, May 15 — State-owned SJVN Ltd announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has commenced commercial operations of 78.23 MW capacity at the Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan.

This milestone follows the earlier commissioning of 241.77 MW under Phase 1 of the project on April 2, 2025. With this, the total operational capacity at the Bikaner site has now reached over 320 MW.

Bikaner Solar Project Targets 1000 MW Capacity

The Bikaner Solar Power Project, with a planned total capacity of 1000 MW, is scheduled for full commissioning by the third quarter of 2025. Once fully operational, SGEL will supply solar power to Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.

Developed Under MNRE CPSU Scheme

Located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan, the project is being executed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme – Phase II, Tranche III of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The initiative falls under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, supporting the government’s Make in India campaign and promoting indigenous solar manufacturing capabilities.

Supporting India’s Renewable Energy Goals

SJVN’s Bikaner solar project is set to contribute significantly towards India’s ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. The project also aligns with SJVN’s long-term strategic vision of scaling its capacity to 25,000 MW by 2030 and expanding to 50,000 MW by 2040.
