Churwan defeated Markoot by 57 runs to win the Gurez Snow Cricket Premier League 2026 final, held in Wanpora, Gurez.
February 16, Srinagar: Churwan won the Gurez Snow Cricket Premier League 2026 title after defeating Markoot in the final, held in Wanpora, Gurez.
The tournament, organized by the Indian Army, aimed to promote winter sports, youth participation, and community engagement in the region.
A total of 32 teams participated in the league. In the final, Churwan scored 112 runs in 20 overs. Markoot were dismissed for 55 runs, giving Churwan a 57-run victory and the championship title.
The winning team received a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
Officials said that similar snow cricket tournaments will be organized in the future to encourage sports activities, create opportunities for local youth, and support winter tourism in Gurez.
Officials from the civil administration, Army personnel, and a large number of residents attended the final. Local residents praised the Army's efforts in organizing the event.
