Civilian Flights Set to Resume Following Temporary Suspension Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

Srinagar, May 12 — Srinagar International Airport is now fully prepared to resume flight operations after the Airports Authority of India (AAI) lifted the suspension on civil aviation activities across 32 airports temporarily closed last week due to heightened military tensions between India and Pakistan.

The closure had been enforced through a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued by the AAI and other aviation authorities, affecting key airports in northern and western India. Srinagar Airport, a central hub in the Kashmir Valley, was among those impacted.

On Monday, an official confirmed that the aerodrome closure NOTAM for Srinagar had been revoked. “Srinagar Airport is ready to facilitate flight operations,” the official said, adding that airlines' responses regarding the exact resumption schedule are still awaited.

The temporary shutdown also disrupted scheduled Hajj flights from Srinagar, impacting several pilgrims preparing for their annual journey.

As operational readiness has been established, airlines are expected to announce updated flight schedules shortly.
