Fire Damages 6 Homes in Srinagar's Habakadal A late-night fire in Srinagar's Habakadal injured a firefighter and two civilians, damaging six homes and triggering a large-scale emergency response.Feb 11, Srinagar: A fire call was received at the State Fire Control Room at 10:32 p.m., prompting an immediate response. Within a minute, fire tenders from Fire Station Habakadal, Babadem, Gowkadal, Headquarters and Syed Hameed Pora were dispatched to the scene.Given the congested nature of the locality, additional reinforcements from fire stations in Maharaj Gunj, Rainawari, Safakadal, Rawalpora, Nowshhera and Nowgam were sent to contain the blaze.During the operation, Fireman Fameed Ahmad sustained grievous hand injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment. Two civilians also were injured and taken to a hospital for medical care.Officials said two to three gas cylinders burst during the incident. Six residential houses sustained damage, limited to their attic portions.The operation was supervised on site by Deputy Director of Fire and Emergency Services Dr. Mir Aqib Hussain. Aijaz Ahmad Shah was present to ensure mobility and coordination.Additional Director General of Police Alok Kumar urged the public to remain cautious while operating electrical appliances and LPG cooking gas.The cause of the fire was not immediately known and is under investigation.
