Srinagar, May 10 – Srinagar witnessed a wave of panic on Saturday as two massive explosions rocked areas near the airport around 11:45 a.m., just hours after a series of early morning blasts had already shaken the city, officials confirmed.
The explosions, coming in quick succession, intensified fears among residents already on edge after similar incidents earlier in the day. Authorities reported that sirens were heard in several neighborhoods, and electricity supply was disrupted across large parts of the city and other areas in the Kashmir Valley, compounding the sense of alarm.
The fresh blasts occurred near key infrastructure points, including the Srinagar airport, raising concerns over the safety of vital installations.
According to officials, the morning explosions followed a night of heightened military alertness after Indian forces successfully intercepted multiple drones launched by Pakistan across Jammu and Kashmir. The thwarted drone attacks were reportedly aimed at sensitive locations, marking a sharp escalation in cross-border hostilities.
As the situation develops, security has been ramped up around strategic sites, and officials are monitoring the region closely.
The back-to-back incidents have rattled residents and heightened tensions in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Further details are awaited as investigations continue.
