Mumbai, May 11 – Regional carrier Star Air has announced a significant expansion of its services from Kolhapur, unveiling direct flights to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Nagpur starting May 15.
Currently, Star Air operates 16 weekly flights (both direct and connecting) from Kolhapur to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Tirupati. With the addition of three new destinations, the airline will increase its total number of destinations served from Kolhapur to seven, while weekly flight frequencies will nearly double to 28.
As part of this expansion, Star Air will also upgrade its existing Mumbai-Kolhapur-Mumbai and Kolhapur-Ahmedabad-Kolhapur routes by introducing the 76-seater Embraer ERJ-175 aircraft, replacing the smaller 50-seater ERJ-145. The upgraded aircraft will also include business class, enhancing passenger comfort.
This rollout is a component of the Summer schedule network expansion of Star Air, which is owned by the Kolhapur-headquartered Sanjay Ghodawat Group.
Looking ahead, beginning June 3, the airline plans to operate 32 weekly flights from Kolhapur, covering destinations including Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Tirupati, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Nagpur, and Kishangarh.
“Our expansion from Kolhapur marks a strategic move to connect more regional centres. With our growing fleet, Star Air is poised to keep bridging the connectivity gap across India’s heartland,” said Captain Simran Singh Tiwana, CEO of Star Air.
