Star Cement to Invest ₹3,200 Crore in Assam; Major MoUs Signed at Advantage Assam Summit

Guwahati, Feb 26: Star Cement Ltd has announced plans to establish a ₹ {3,200-crore cement clinker and grinding plant in Assam, significantly boosting the state’s industrial sector. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this project was signed between the company and the Assam government on the concluding day of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed.

In addition to this, Matheson Hydrogen Lvt Ltd has committed to setting up a ₹1,500-crore hydrogen and steam generation plant, further strengthening Assam’s clean energy infrastructure. The state government signed a ₹500-crore MoU with Global Health Ltd to enhance healthcare services. Moreover, two non-financial agreements were finalized with ITE Education Service to promote skill development and education in the state.

Expressing gratitude to the investing companies, CM Sarma emphasized the state's growing appeal for industries and hinted that more agreements would be signed throughout the day.

On the first day of the summit, a total of 164 MoUs spanning 15 sectors were inked, showcasing Assam's strong potential as an investment hub. The summit aims to accelerate economic growth by attracting large-scale industrial investments and infrastructure development projects.
