Guwahati, February 11 Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Wednesday that 16 illegal immigrants from Bangladesh have been expelled from the state.

He affirmed that the state government will continue to take swift action against infiltrators.

"Critics make noise, but for Assam, this is the only option. Today, Assam is taking the initiative, we don't wait indefinitely to protect our country, we ensure swift action," Sarma said in a post on X.

"16 illegal Bangladeshis have been identified and promptly expelled in the early hours. Goodbye," he added.

However, the chief minister did not specify the location from which the expulsion took place.

The state government has been taking strict measures against illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, expelling infiltrators through its borders with the neighboring country.
