Bongaon-Sealdah EMU Rear Coach Derailed While Entering Platform
Kolkata, May 14 – A suburban train traveling from Bongaon to Sealdah experienced a derailment at Dum Dum railway station on Wednesday afternoon, an Eastern Railway official confirmed.The incident occurred at 12:11 p.m. when two wheels of the rear coach of the EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) train jumped the tracks as it approached platform number 4. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in the mishap.
Railway officials responded promptly, and the derailed coach was successfully re-railed and restored to the tracks by 1:38 pm.
The quick recovery operation ensured minimal disruption to train services, though Eastern Railway has yet to issue details about potential delays or operational impacts following the incident.
